I. Introduction

The Municipality of Subic, Zambales remains steadfast in its commitment to promote Gender and Development (GAD) as a vital component of good governance. In line with national mandates and the Magna Carta of Women (Republic Act 9710), the municipality has established a GAD Wall Corner inside its municipal building. This initiative aims to strengthen advocacy, awareness, and transparency on gender-related programs, policies, and activities. The Municipality of Subic, Zambales continues to uphold its commitment to gender equality and inclusivity through the establishment of the Gender and Development (GAD) Wall Corner located within the municipal building. This initiative reflects the town’s dedication to promoting awareness, education, and advocacy on issues concerning gender and development.

The GAD Wall Corner serves as an information and advocacy hub for employees, stakeholders, and constituents of Subic. Prominently displayed are visual materials, posters, and informative messages that highlight the importance of gender equality and women empowerment. One of the central messages reads: “Achieving gender equality requires the engagement of women and men, girls and boys. It is everyone’s responsibility.” This statement reinforces the collective role of the community in building an inclusive society.

The wall is decorated with the acronym SUBIC GAD, with colorful, eye-catching letters that will immediately draw attention. Attached to the bulletin board are important documents such as the GAD Accomplishment Report, GAD Plan and Budget, and awareness posters on Gender Equality and Inclusive Society (WE for GAD). These documents ensure transparency and serve as a reference for the public on the municipality’s ongoing GAD initiatives. Adding vibrancy and meaning to the display are images of

community activities, a symbolic “Family Tree of Accomplishments”, and ornamental flowers surrounding the board. These decorations not only make the corner visually appealing but also represent growth, unity, and the nurturing role of gender-sensitive governance.

The GAD Wall Corner also emphasizes the municipality’s support for the Philippine Magna Carta of Women and local gender policies, further strengthening Subic’s compliance with national mandates on gender mainstreaming.
